Here are a few tips the keep your disposal in good working
order:
• Never put any food into the disposal until it’s turned on.
• Only FOOD goes in the disposal. Please, no failed science
projects or small pets!
• Try to run only COLD water when using the disposal. This will
keep grease from liquefying and gumming up its guts.
• Never reach into the disposal unless you have first unplugged
it! No need to go into details on this tip…
• At least once a month, drop a dozen or so ice cubes in the
running disposal. Help keep it clean. It’s not a bad idea to throw
a cut lemon or two in there as well, this will help remove any
nasty smells.
• If the disposal is jammed, you should have an off-set Allen
wrench that came with the Disposal (see photo). Unplug the unit
and insert the wrench into the bottom of the disposal. Turn it
both ways until the grinder moves freely. WHILE THE
DISPOSAL IS STILL UNPLUGGED, have someone you don’t
like muchreach in and remove the obstruction (just kidding-no
lawsuits, please!). Press the little red
reset button (on the bottom of the motor) and you’re good to go!
